Start. One of Etna Experience’s expert naturalistic guides will pick you up at 8:30 a.m. from your hotel in Catania or from an agreed meeting point, to take you aboard one of our 8-seater vehicles (jeep or minivan).

Ascent to 2950 mt. You will reach Rifugio Sapienza. There the tour will continue taking the cable car up to 2500 meters and a special 4×4 vehicle to reach an altitude of 2950 meters. So, together with a volcanological guide, you will enjoy the magnificence of our volcano standing in front of the impressive Central and South Eastern Craters, surrounded by ancient and recent lava flows.

Second stop

Discovering Etna. Once back to Rifugio Sapienza we will head in the direction of Monte Nero degli Zappini, for a naturalistic walk with our guide, to discover the geological and botanical aspects of Etna.

Snack. You will stop nearby the mountain shelter Santa Barbara where you will enjoy a picnic made of authentic Sicilian “Tavola Calda” (street food), sweets, water and Etna wine.

Third stop

Explore the lava caves of Etna. In the afternoon, you will visit a volcanic cave using the equipment provided (helmets and torches) to safely explore it. Our expert guide will introduce you, with some basic information on speleology, to the fascintating phenomena often related to eruptions.
