The heat this year is making us wait but we can not wait to go on vacation, spend a few days in total relaxation with family or friends. Is it the same for you? Would you like to organize your next holidays but don’t know where to go? We’ll give you some suggestions, here’s how you could spend the summer 2019!
We have all seen on tv the most famous inspector in Italy, taken from the novels of Camilleri. And certainly the charm of the places that have frames this television series has not escaped us. The “places of Montalbano” as they are now defined. Noto, Marzamemi and Portopalo di Capopassero have been the backdrop to several scenes, the police station is located in Scicli while the famous house of the inspector is located in Marina di Ragusa, exactly in Santa Croce Camerina. In this part of Sicily you can spend your holidays in beautiful beaches characterized by a crystal clear sea.
Cliffs and black stone stacks characterize the northern coast, between Catania and Riposto, summer destination not only for Sicilians but also for thousands of tourists from around the world: Acitrezza with its stacks, Acicastello and the village of Torre Archirafi are just a few examples, where you could spend your summer 2019.
A holiday in Sicily is certainly incomplete if you do not devote at least one day to an excursion to Mount Etna. In winter you can ski on the snow looking at the sea, in summer you can participate in several tours: definitely breathtaking what takes place during the sunset, the Mt. Etna sunset tour, but equally unmissable the Mt. Etna Summit Easy tour that allows you, through a light trek suitable for everyone, to reach the base of the summit craters at 2950 meters.
A breathtaking view of Mount Etna can be admired from Taormina. A tourist destination since the eighteenth century today boasts architectural and landscape beauties of international fame: the Greek-Roman theater, setting for shows and events of international level; Isola Bella, donated to the city by the King of Spain and soon became a destination for nobles and aristocrats from all over Europe; the main street, Corso Umberto, with its fashion and souvenir shops and numerous alleys (remember one particularly narrow, less than a meter wide!). Not to be missed is the view over the bay of Naxos and Mount Etna from Piazza IX Aprile, the city’s terrace.
For a holiday rich in culture, sea and fun, the ideal destination is definitely Catania. Its historic centre is rich in Baroque: from the central Via Etnea to the historic Via Crociferi, not to mention Piazza Duomo and the nearby Piazza Pardo and Alonzo di Benedetto, where the daily fish market takes place.
The Movida Catanese is also well known: the young people of Catania crowd the streets of the old town, where it is not difficult to find pubs, restaurants or simple breweries. Famous in this sense is Piazza Vincenzo Bellini, home of the Teatro Massimo in Catania and full of ice cream bars and restaurants.
To take a bath on hot summer days you can go to the beach: the playa of Catania boasts a sandy coast 18 km long, but if you prefer the rocks just reach the beach of S. Giovanni Li Cuti, where you can enjoy an excellent granita looking at the sea!
Or you could book your daily tour on a sailboat from Catania to Acitrezza and enjoy a unique experience for your summer 2019!
